The Green Bay Packers have extended the contract of veteran linebacker and core special-teams contributor Isaiah McDuffie, according to a report from Over the Cap. The new deal is worth $4.85 million over one additional year, keeping McDuffie under contract in Green Bay through the 2027 season. His prior arrangement was a two-year contract that was set to run through the 2026 season. The extension includes a $1.5 million signing bonus and a $750,000 roster bonus payable if he remains on the roster on the third day of the new league year in 2027.
McDuffie’s cap number rises to $4,725,000 for 2026, with a cap hit of $5,100,000 in 2027. The only fully guaranteed money in 2027 is the prorated $750,000 from the new signing bonus. While McDuffie may not be guaranteed a starting role in the base 3-4 defense under Jonathan Gannon, he is recognized as a reliable backup and a full-time contributor on special teams. With newcomer Zaire Franklin coming off a disappointing final season in Indianapolis and just turning 30 years old, McDuffie represents a valuable insurance policy for both 2026 and 2027.
This extension provides McDuffie with a raise in 2026 and affords the Packers an additional year of contractual stability without exposing a large amount of guaranteed money in 2027. Drafted by Green Bay in the sixth round in 2021, McDuffie appeared in all 17 games for the Packers last season, recording 505 defensive snaps and a career-high 302 snaps on special teams in 2025. He is anticipated to be a key figure for Cam Achord’s special-teams unit in 2026. Across five NFL seasons, McDuffie has started 38 games at linebacker and has exceeded 1,000 career snaps on special teams.
