Four additional players from the UCLA baseball program were chosen on Day 2 of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday, bringing the Bruins’ total to eight selections in this year’s class. The top pick for UCLA was Roch Cholowsky, who went No. 1 overall. Right-hander Cal Randall was the first Bruin to hear his name called on Sunday, going in the fifth round at No. 146 to the St. Louis Cardinals. Randall, a three-year Bruin, helped UCLA reach the Men’s College World Series in 2025—the program’s first appearance in 12 years. The Concord, California native finished the 2026 season with a 3-0 record, a 3.19 ERA, 57 strikeouts, and 14 saves across 31 innings.
A few rounds later, outfielder Will Gasparino was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies at No. 161 in the fifth round. Gasparino transferred to UCLA after two seasons with Texas, starting in 58 games in the outfield this year and earning recognition as a NCBWA First Team All-American and an All-Big Ten First Team selection during his time in college.
The Blue Jays then drafted Dean West with the No. 222 overall pick in the seventh round. West, a leadoff hitter and regular in UCLA’s outfield, hails from Sherman Oaks, California, and spent all three of his collegiate seasons with the Bruins. He contributed to the 2025 squad that returned UCLA to the MCWS and was named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team as a junior.
Rounding out the Bruins’ 2026 Draft class was catcher Cashel Dugger, taken by the Washington Nationals with the No. 256 overall pick in the ninth round. Dugger, who captained the team at times and played in all three seasons at UCLA, started 52 games behind the plate this season. He slashed .251/.378/.377 with 48 hits, 39 RBIs, nine doubles, and five home runs, helping UCLA maintain its presence in the MCWS in 2025.
