Stefon Diggs Sends Bold Free Agency Pitch To All NFL Teams After Productive Season With Patriots

By admin — In News — July 13, 2026

NFL free agency kicked off back in March, yet arguably one of the league’s best players remains unsigned heading into the 2026 season. Stefon Diggs, who will turn 33 in November, just wrapped his seventh 1,000-yard season in the last eight years. The four-time Pro Bowler has long been one of the NFL’s most productive receivers, but for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, he still hasn’t secured a team for a 12th season. It’s not a reluctance to play for another year, though—Diggs has made it clear retirement isn’t on his radar. If anything, he’s continuing to remind everyone just how impactful he can be on the field.
While Diggs has largely moved away from presenting himself as a No. 1 go-to option on every squad, the veteran pass-catcher recently asserted on his YouTube channel that no one can “name a No. 2 better than me.” “My opinion, I can compete with anybody,” Diggs said. “But take those [top wide receivers] as your 1s, right? You can’t name a No. 2 better than me.” He also seemed to acknowledge the economics of the game, wondering aloud about the value and the money tied to those second options around the league.
There’s a possibility that Diggs hasn’t yet received the contract offers he’s seeking after signing a substantial three-year, $63.5 million deal with the New England Patriots last offseason. That contract was eventually nullified after one season, which is why he is a free agent once more. Still, Diggs’ track record speaks loudly. Since tearing his ACL with the Houston Texans after eight games in 2024, he has maintained a 1,000-yard season every year dating back to 2018. That level of production is rarely easily replaceable or negotiable away from a top target, and it’s the kind of reliability that should have NFL teams calling his agent with interest.
There are many teams that could use Diggs’s talents, and the Kansas City Chiefs or Washington Commanders stand out as potential fits. Both franchises could arguably benefit from adding a dynamic, proven option in the receiving corps, potentially stepping in as a formidable No. 2 receiver or even a move that allows for more flexibility within the offense. The Chiefs, in particular, have been known to leverage versatile pass-catchers to keep defenses guessing, while the Commanders could use Diggs’s veteran presence and playmaking ability to bolster their aerial attack.
Why Diggs remains unsigned at this point is anyone’s guess. With training camps set to begin in late July, teams will be eager to finalize their offenses and secure a dynamic addition who can contribute immediately. The NFL free-agent market, already crowded with receivers, could still present a path for Diggs to land with a contender that aligns with his ambitions and style of play. In the meantime, the debate over where he’ll end up—and how his veteran savvy will fit into a new offense—will continue to captivate fans and analysts alike as teams prepare for another high-stakes season.
