GREENSBORO, S.C. (WSPA) – The Greenville Drive’s Sunday night extended road trip ended in a 3-1 defeat to the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Greensboro improved to 13-8 in the second half, while Greenville slipped to 9-12. Both teams totaled five hits, and Greenville committed the game’s lone error.
Outfielder Jhonny Severino propelled the Grasshoppers’ offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, one RBI, and two runs scored. Easton Carmichael, Jared Jones, and Josh Tate each contributed a hit for Greensboro.
For Greenville, infielder Mason White led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance. Enddy Azocar, Justin Gonzales, and Luke Heyman also added hits for the Drive.
On the mound, Greensboro’s right-hander Jack Anker started and conceded one earned run on two hits over four innings, while striking out three and issuing one walk. Reliever Draven Zeigler earned the win to move to 3-3 on the season. Jacob Bimbi recorded his fourth hold, and Carlson Reed secured his first save of the year.
Greenville countered with left-hander Dylan Brown, who took the loss after six innings of work. Brown fanned five but allowed four hits, three runs (two earned), and two walks, dropping to 2-5 on the season.
Looking ahead, the Drive are scheduled to return to action on Friday, July 17, at 6:45 p.m. against Frederick at home.
