With training camp just a few weeks away, our latest 53-man roster prediction for the Denver Broncos is in order. Our current projection envisions the team carrying three quarterbacks on the active roster, though Jarrett Stidham could become a trade candidate this summer. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Denver roll with four running backs on the 53-man squad, but given the current depth and cap concerns, we’ve forecasted three. At tight end, the projection calls for four players on the active roster; if the Broncos decide to go with five, rookie Dallen Bentley would likely be the standout candidate for that additional spot.
One notable caveat: this projection does not include outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper, who could face an NFL suspension in light of a felony assault case. Cooper has a disposition hearing scheduled for July 24.
Position-by-position snapshot:
– Quarterback: Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham
– Running back: J.K. Dobbins
– Guard: Ben Powers
– Defensive end: Sai’vion Jones
– Cornerback: Pat Surtain
– Cornerback: Ja’Quan McMillian
– Safety: Talanoa Hufunga
Denver is set to begin training camp on July 31, followed by three preseason games in August. After the preseason schedule, the Broncos will have until Aug. 30 to finalize the 53-man roster. Once the active roster is established and the practice squad is constructed, attention will turn to a Week 2 Monday Night Football showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 14.
