Browns roster: CB depth chart and expectations

By admin — In News — July 13, 2026

Over the past four to five seasons, Cleveland has done a solid job cultivating and developing talent at cornerback, and that groundwork should pay dividends again in 2026. Denzel Ward has been exceptional since 2021, and the Tyson Campbell trade last season proved to be a smart move by Andrew Berry and his staff. While the top two corners look reliable, the depth behind them is less certain. Myles Harden and Dom Jones have yet to fully meet expectations, leaving questions about the rotational options. Myles Bryant joined the team as a free agent and could emerge as a legitimate rotational piece in 2026, given his productive track record in the slot with New England and Houston over the past five years.
Projected starter lineup
– Denzel Ward
– Tyson Campbell
– Myles Bryant (CB3)
– Myles Harden (CB4)
– Dom Jones (CB5)
– Michael Coats Jr. (CB6)
Best-case scenario
Ward and Campbell both post above-average seasons, providing a sturdy outside duo. Harden finally makes a leap and develops into the team’s nickel or slot corner of the future. With Bryant contributing as a reliable rotational piece and Jones demonstrating growth, the Browns can form a cohesive and versatile group that strengthens the overall pass defense by season’s end. The combination of Bryant and Jones could form a strong inside rotation, while Harden’s progress adds a dynamic option in sub-packages. This scenario positions Cleveland to be among the league’s more formidable passing defenses if the development trend continues.
Worst-case scenario
If Ward struggles with injuries or Campbell regresses in 2026, the cornerback room could quickly become a weak point. Harden might not meet the coaching staff’s expectations for the nickel role, limiting the team’s flexibility in sub-packages. Bryant can contribute in the slot and in depth, but his impact might not be enough to salvage a softer overall secondary performance if the other two top corners aren’t on their game. In this outcome, Cleveland’s pass defense could lag behind expectations and put more pressure on the front seven to win games.
Comparison to 2025
If Ward and Campbell deliver a solid floor as the starting pair, the 2026 unit should be at least as good as last year, if not better. Bryant and Harden should handle the slot and rotational duties effectively, with the potential for Emmanuel McNeil-Warren to contribute as a bigger nickel as a rookie as well. The roster rotation remains similar to 2025, but with Campbell’s second season in Cleveland and Bryant providing a lift in depth, the cornerback group has a higher ceiling. The only caveat is the health and consistency of Ward and Campbell; otherwise, the unit should be more cohesive and capable of stifling opposing aerial attacks.
