I let him do all the negotiating and all the speaking.”When Smith got the call, he was exuding confidence, so much so that he had a message for Brewers All-Star right-hander, Jacob Misiorowski.”And then when I got that call, I mean, I told him, I said, I said, Misiorowski better be ready,” Smith said. “So, that’s the emotions for today.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFrom the first moment of Smith’s first workout with the Brewers, he knew he belonged with the organization.”I walked in, I’m like, ‘Yep, I own this place,'” Smith said. “Let’s go. Let’s go. So, I went out there, I spun it well. I threw the changeup and I threw the fastball. Fastball was a little down from traveling so much. But then we settled in and had a pair of K’s and then a few little hits, but that’s no big deal.”And then right after that, I had to look at Mom and Dad after they had family meetings and we had whole family meetings and stuff,” Smith added. “I’m like, ‘Yep, this is, like, home right here.'”From an organizational standpoint, Smith admires how the players are treated.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”They take care of the guys,” Smith said. “They invest in the guys.
