​ALTUS – Danny Nix will be back coaching the Bulldogs in the 2026-27 school year, but not the ones he’s known for.Altus ISD announced Monday that Nix had been named head boys basketball coach for the upcoming season, bringing the veteran coach out of a retirement he began in 2022.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNix spent forty seasons as the head coach of Burkburnett boys basketball, spending 26 years also serving as the school’s athletic director. He accumulated 866 wins in that time, leading the program to 19 district titles and a pair of trips to the state championship game.
