And with star power like Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé involved, it’s abundantly clear we’re in for a heavyweight matchup.Unfortunately, the uniform matchup might disappoint some of you at home. While, after a brief hiatus, France is back to wearing its classic dark blue jersey in line with its “Les Bleus” nickname, Spain, a.k.a. “La Roja,” has elected not to feed into a wonderful, pleasing-on-the-eye red-vs-blue aesthetic.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementInstead, the Spanish will be wearing … white. Ugh, why? This is arguably THE red vs. blue matchup in soccer, if there ever was one.Well, it’s probably more of a comfort thing than anything else. Yes, the stadium in Dallas has a retractable roof, but wearing white to contrast against France’s darker uniform color is Spain’s way of keeping its players cool and minimizing potential heat exhaustion. There’s no deeper meaning here. It is truly about individual player comfort in trying to make guys feel better for what should be a classic match.The two countries last played in the UEFA Nations League semifinals a little over a year ago.
