For pitchers aged 30 or younger, he became the fourth to accomplish the feat, joining Clayton Kershaw, Pedro Martinez and Chris Sale.Despite having his family in attendance, Gilbert yielded four earned runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings, but earned a piece of big league history.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementCertainly, a bittersweet start.Along with teammates Emerson Hancock, George Kirby and Bryan Woo, Gilbert has helped form a formidable rotation. Through 97 games, the Mariners entered the All-Star break with the MLB’s sixth-best ERA (3.65).Despite a combined 38 quality starts between the four starters, the team’s pitching staff did not receive All-Star Game recognition.Gilbert didn’t help his cause early at T-Mobile Park.
