John Harbaugh has seen this movie before. The New York Giants coach might be entering his first season with “Big Blue,” but that doesn’t mean he’s unaware of the task at hand. That feeling of déjà vu has everything to do with the health of his quarterback, Jaxson Dart, who was checked for five concussions in 2025.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDuring a July 13 appearance on “The Dominique Foxworth Show,” Harbaugh was asked about keeping Dart healthy in his second season. The coach signaled that the situation isn’t too far off from what he experienced with Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.”I mean, he’s aware of it,” Harbaugh said of how important it is to keep Dart healthy. “You got a fine line. I remember hearing the same thing about Lamar, and the same things were said about Lamar really every year but especially after the first season.”Harbaugh noted some criticisms of Jackson’s style of play, with some suggesting it would never last in the NFL. Ultimately, the coach opted to trust the two-time MVP and he plans to take the same approach with Dart.”I trusted that he was gonna protect himself because he wants to be out there and he wants to play and it’s not the type of a sport where you can put yourself in bubble wrap. You’re gonna play ball and you’re gonna get tackled and things can happen out there.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”But I do think playing the game in a way that respects that there are other guys out there that are capable of doing damage to you when you have the ball in your hands, especially for the quarterback, is important. I trust that Jaxson Dart understands that.”1 / 4OT Tytus Howard: Traded to Cleveland Browns (previous team: Houston Texans)(Troy Taormina, Imagn Images)And it’s not exclusive to on-field actions either. Schematically, the Giants understand there are multiple ways to operate an offense that can shield Dart from potential harm.”Jaxson’s capable of doing a lot of things,” Harbaugh said. “Like he can live in a lot of different worlds, football-wise. He can live in a power-running game, obviously, and a power-running game protects the quarterback because you can hand the ball off, get yards and make people defend that and keep them honest. Then, it opens up your play-action passing game.”That stuff, we’re gonna be in those worlds.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAs for some of Dart’s most important weapons, Harbaugh noted that Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers are progressing toward a return to the field as training camp approaches.”They’re doing well,” Harbaugh said. “They’re both rehabbing every day, working super hard. I would say they’re on schedule.”Harbaugh joked that no one really knows what “on schedule” means in this case, but there is a lot of optimism around both players.”I feel like Scatt will be ready for early on in camp right away pretty quick and then Malik will be working his way into practice as camp gets started one way or another,” he said. “And to what degree, we will find out
