Auburn basketball will begin the 2026-27 season in Birmingham with an exhibition against an ACC foe.According to several reports, including one from Justin Ferguson of the Auburn Observer, Auburn basketball will compete in the “Ballin’ in Boutwell” event against the Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham. It will mark the second-straight season that Auburn has competed in this preseason event after the Tigers lost to Oklahoma State in overtime last season, 97-95.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“We’re thrilled to open the season at Boutwell Auditorium against a quality opponent like Florida State,” Head Coach Steven Pearl said in a release. “Ballin in Boutwell provides a great opportunity for our team to gain valuable experience while competing in front of our incredible fans at an outstanding venue. We can’t wait to tip off the season in such a special atmosphere.”It will be the first time Auburn fans get to see the new-look Auburn Tigers, who are fresh off the NIT Championship win over Tulsa. The Tigers return two key players, Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton, from last season’s roster, but will work in a new backcourt following the departures of Keshawn Freeman and Keyshawn Hall to the NBA, as well as Elyjah Freeman and Sebastian Williams-Adams to the transfer portal.Auburn signed a couple of seven-footers during the offseason, Santa Clara transfer Bukky Oboye and International star Narcisse Ngoy, and a few more players from the transfer portal, including Adam Olsen, Owen Freeman, and Thomas Dowd, all of whom are 6-8 or taller.Florida State finished 18-15 last season, and 10-8 in ACC play. The Seminoles failed to make postseason play last season after losing their ACC Tournament game to Duke by one point, 80-79.
