LAS VEGAS — It’s important for younger players to feel the support from their coaches and teammates while trying to make an impact in the NBA. For those at summer league, it just gives them a bit of an extra boost to perform while out on the floor. The Philadelphia 76ers have experienced that while out in Vegas. Younger players such as rookie Labaron Philon Jr. have been able to look on the sidelines and see coach Nick Nurse as well as veterans Dominick Barlow, Jabari Walker, and even Jaylen Brown has appeared to support the younger players.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”Just hearing from those guys being here is really important, definitely for the young guys and definitely for the guys that’s trying to make the team, for sure,” said Philon. “Just like being able to see those guys and hear their voices, I feel like that’s a great thing. All the other guys, too, when they get here.”Philon has been impressive in the summer league as he has found ways to make an impact whether it’s been scoring, playmaking, or ball-handling. He has been able to play well for Philadelphia, and seeing the support from his team has given him a ton of motivation. However, his mindset is to play well regardless of who’s on the sidelines.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”I say you gotta bring it even when they’re not there and even when nobody’s watching,” Philon finished. “So, when they come, it should be natural. You should not be just trying to do things just because they’re there. Just play your game. Do what you do, and just find a way to impact the game.”The Sixers will continue the summer league on Wednesday when they take on the Orlando Magic. This article originally appeared on Sixers Wire: Sixers’ Labaron Philon Jr. discusses having coaches, veterans at SL
