Former Kansas wide receiver Quentin Skinner is getting another opportunity in the NFL after the Buffalo Bills claimed him off waivers from the New York Jets on Tuesday.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe move comes just days before training camp begins and gives the former Jayhawk a fresh chance to compete for a roster spot with one of the AFC’s top contenders. Buffalo opened a spot for Skinner by releasing wide receiver Deven Thompkins.Skinner signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft and spent much of his rookie season developing within the organization. He appeared in one regular-season game, recording his first NFL reception on a 10-yard catch before being waived this week. Now, the 6-foot-5 receiver will look to capitalize on a new opportunity in Buffalo.Skinner finished his Kansas career as one of the Jayhawks’ premier deep threats under Lance Leipold. During his senior season in 2024, he caught 24 passes for 557 yards and three touchdowns while averaging an impressive 22.2 yards per reception. He also posted career highs with six catches and 130 receiving yards against Arizona State and followed that with a 135-yard performance against Iowa State. His production wasn’t limited to one season.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOver three years as a contributor, Skinner totaled 79 receptions for 1,584 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns while consistently stretching opposing defenses with his combination of size and speed. His breakout campaign came in 2022 when he hauled in five touchdown catches, including the game-winning score in overtime against West Virginia during Kansas’ memorable bowl season.Throughout his time in Lawrence, Skinner developed into one of the Big 12’s most dangerous vertical threats, using his 6-foot-5 frame to make contested catches while averaging more than 20 yards per reception during his final collegiate season. The Bills are betting that skill set can translate at the professional level. With training camp set to begin, Skinner will now have another opportunity to earn a place on an NFL roster and continue representing Kansas football at the highest level.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJoin the CommunityDon’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news! It’s completely free to join, simply by clicking the yellow button at the top of the homepage.
