LeBron James is once again involved in a sweepstakes in the NBA.A few teams are in contention of landing James, who earlier this month announced he would become a free agent instead of return to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are among the contenders to win the prize.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementRoundtable Sports writers Anthony Aguirre (Heat) and Anthony Pasciolla (Sixers) recently discussed it on the Heat Wave podcast. Both concluded the race is essentially between the Heat and Sixers. Both teams made major offseason moves to entice James. The Heat acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Kel’el Ware and Kapsaras Jakucionis. The Sixers traded Paul George to the Boston Celtics for All-Star Jaylen Brown.”This absolutely puts them in tier 1 in the East,” Aguirre said of the Sixers. “You’ve got the ball-handlers with Tyrese Maxey, even [Jaylen] Brown now … I like what the Sixers have done and obviously if you get LeBron, that changes the dynamic. That puts them in a whole different tier in the East.”The Heat counter with giving James a chance to play alongside Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP, and Bam Adebayo. James, who won two titles with the Heat from 2010-14, also gets the chance to reunite with team president Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhile other teams such as the Golden State Warriors are still in the mix, Aguirre believes it’s between Philadelphia and Miami.”To me, it’s the Sixers and the Heat,” Aguirre said. “Obviously, with the Sixers, the addition of Jaylen Brown, that is well more than enough star power for James to simply take a step back and preserve his energy, preserve his body and then playoff time, he can turn it up a notch.”MORE MIAMI HEAT NEWS Should Heat go after player with championship pedigree in free agency? What Udonis Haslem had to say about the Tyler Herro-Bam Adebayo incidentAdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDo the Heat say yes or no to this future Hall of Famer?Join the CommunityDon’t miss out on our ROUNDTABLE community and the latest news!
