How ex-LSU baseball slugger Ethan Frey is faring in the pros

   ​Former LSU Baseball outfielder Ethan Frey started the 2026 minor league season with the Asheville Tourists, the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. However, he dealt with adversity in June due to an injury.Frey is currently completing a rehab assignment at the rookie level with the FCL Astros. He went on the seven-day injured list on June 4, then began his rehab assignment on July 3, which is where he resided heading into the All-Star break.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBefore then, Frey played in 47 games for the Tourists. He hit .254 with a .353 on-base percentage, .400 slugging percentage and .753 OPS. The former Tiger racked up 47 hits, including 16 for extra bases, 31 RBI and 28 runs.As part of the national championship team in 2025, Frey carried one of the biggest bats in LSU’s lineup. He developed into a reliable designated hitter for head coach Jay Johnson, batting .331 with 60 hits and 50 RBI.
