Steelers fans get bad news on DK Metcalf amid George Pickens reality check

By admin — In News — July 16, 2026

Pittsburgh Steelers fans may want to look away from Pro Football Focus’ latest NFL wide receiver rankings, as DK Metcalf didn’t exactly fare well when compared to some of the league’s elite playmakers. To make matters worse, George Pickens’ ranking only served to rub salt in the wound of Steelers Nation. In PFF’s new receiver rankings for the 2026 season, Metcalf fell out of the top 25 and was listed as the No. 26 wideout. Where was Pickens ranked? As the ninth-best wide receiver in the National Football League — a brutal reminder of the talent Pittsburgh lost in the Dallas Cowboys trade.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementPickens enjoyed a career season with the Cowboys, recording 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns en route to his first Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro selection. And Metcalf? He unfortunately had one of the worst seasons of his seven-year career, recording 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 59 receptions.Luckily for Metcalf, the Steelers completely overhauled their receiver corps, which should more than help take the pressure off him in 2026. Oh, and bringing in the offensive-minded Mike McCarthy as head coach certainly didn’t hurt. For up-to-date Steelers coverage, including any offseason moves, follow us on X @TheSteelersWire and give our Facebook page a like. This article originally appeared on Steelers Wire: Steelers fans get bad news on DK Metcalf amid George Pickens reality check
