Former Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet has found a new club in Belgium. The midfielder, who departed from Leicester City a few seasons ago, was released by Antwerp at the end of the 2025/2026 season and has since been signed by KV Mechelen on a two-year contract. This move marks the third Belgian club Praet has represented in his career.
Praet’s football journey began with Anderlecht, where he broke into the first team during the 2011/2012 season. After showing promise over five seasons, he left Anderlecht to join Sampdoria. During a three-year spell with Sampdoria, Praet appeared in more than 100 competitive matches and found the back of the net four times.
In the summer of 2019, Praet transferred to Leicester City in the Premier League. While he demonstrated versatility and skill, he never fully cemented a regular starting role at the club. After making 60 appearances for Leicester, he spent the 2021/2022 season on loan at Torino. Upon returning to Leicester, he remained with the club for two more seasons before finally leaving on a permanent basis to join Antwerp.
Since leaving Leicester City, Praet has spent two seasons with Antwerp, contributing in 67 appearances and scoring one goal. Now, with his move to KV Mechelen, Praet continues to ply his trade in Belgium, adding another chapter to a career that has seen him compete in several of Europe’s notable leagues and clubs.
