Palace have already acted to add experience and versatility at the back, with Oscar Mingueza arriving on a free transfer as Pierre Sage’s first signing.
From a Palace viewpoint, Matsima’s profile is easy to understand. He is highlighted for his strength, size and speed, and he played a key role in Augsburg’s defense last season before suffering a tendon tear that sidelined him for four months. While that injury history will be part of background checks, his age, physicality and potential upside make him a logical name to monitor.
There is a useful link in his recent international history as well.
