Email them to sports@lmtribune.com.An Asotin High School alum will soon be playing Big Ten baseball.Cody Ells will be taking his talents to Westwood to play for UCLA, the program announced Wednesday.Ells, who had previously committed to play for Lewis-Clark State, first heard from UCLA following the MLB draft in July when 11 Bruins were selected.The mass exodus meant that UCLA had an opening in its outfield and Ells said that, while it will be a “dog fight” for playing time, he believes he can see the field his freshman year.Ells said that he is grateful for LC State and the opportunity the school gave him.”All the hours I’ve spent training in their cages with their coaches, it’s been unbelievable the amount of time that they put in to helping me become (who) I am,” Ells said. “That place is incredible. I love it. It’s always gonna be my hometown team. I love that team. I love that coaching staff. Love the area.
