​A day after the Detroit Lions signed Roydell Williams, the team hosted another running back.Kareem Hunt, a 10-year veteran whose two stints with the Kansas City Chiefs were sandwiched around a lengthy term with the Cleveland Browns, visited the team Tuesday, Aug. 25.Hunt, a 31-year-old Toledo alumnus, appeared in all 17 games with the Chiefs last season, rushing for 611 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Hunt made the Pro Bowl and was runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017.HEALING TOUCH: Sam LaPorta (hip injury) returns to practice, giving Lions huge boostSince training camp began in late July, the Lions have added multiple running backs – including Raheem Blackshear and Trayveon Williams – as depth at the position has thinned. Backup Isiah Pacheco, one of Hunt’s former teammates with the Chiefs, has been sidelined since early August with an MCL sprain in his knee. Kye Robichaux was waived after suffering an apparent foot fracture in the preseason opener against Cincinnati. Blackshear, who joined the team Aug. 4, was placed on injured reserve Monday after playing 19 offensive snaps on Saturday in a victory over Washington, although it’s unclear when and how he got hurt.Meanwhile, reserve running back Sione Vaki – who has yet to play in the preseason – has been intermittently sidelined. He had his eye poked and broke his nose during a repetition early in training camp and most recently was bothered by back spasms. Vaki, however, returned to practice Tuesday.
