PHILADELPHIA − It appears as if the Eagles will get one key player back from injury, and maybe two, heading into their Oct. 11 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.Tight end Dallas Goedert, who missed the last two games with a knee injury, and linebacker Zack Baun, who missed the last game with a concussion, both went through their third straight day of practice on Oct. 9.The two were limited both on Oct. 7 and 8. It’s not known if they were full participants on Oct. 9 yet. The Eagles are releasing their injury and status report later in the afternoon. Baun would have to go through a full practice, then get cleared by an independent neurologist before he can play.Buy Philadelphia Eagles ticketsThe Eagles were leaving for London later on Oct. 9, so Baun might have to be cleared before the team departs. As for other key players, it appears as if the Eagles will once again have a long list of key players sitting out. WR DeVonta Smith, RB Saquon Barkley, OLB Jonathan Greenard, and C Drew Kendall were among those sitting out practice for a third straight day.It appears as if the Eagles might have dodged another loss as WR Dontayvion Wicks injured his hamstring during practice on Oct. 8 and was listed as limited. Wicks, who’s second on the team in both receptions and yards receiving to Smith, was at practice in some capacity on Oct. 9, a sign that he might be able to play against the Jaguars. In addition, the Eagles also lost RT Lane Johnson to retirement and traded C/G Cam Jurgens to the Ravens over the past few days. Their loss, along with Kendall’s injury, means that practice-squad player Jake Majors will likely either get a game-day elevation or get added to the 53-man roster to start at either center or left guard.Willie Lampkin, already tabbed to start at left guard with Jurgens traded, will either start at center or left guard, with Majors expected to fill the other spot. For both Lampkin and Majors, it’ll be their first career NFL starts. Rookie Markel Bell made his first career NFL start on Oct. 4 when Johnson was a late scratch for personal reasons. Two days later, Johnson announced his retirement. That makes three of the five Eagles offensive linemen either starting for the first or second time in their careers.”I got a ton of confidence in the guys that are going to be playing in the game,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said on Oct. 9. “You’re still trying to attack the defense the way you think you need to attack the defense. But also, you’re thinking about all those things. You’re thinking about who’s in, what they do well, what you do well (as an offense), what the (opposing) defense is doing to try to formulate your best plan possible to go out and give yourself the best chance to win.”Contact Martin Frank at mfrank@delawareonline.com.
