Between now and training camp, we will be going through the Jacksonville Jaguars’ full 90-man roster, previewing each player.
Up next is safety Jalen Huskey, who wears No. 22.
Height: 6-1
Weight: 196
Age: 23
NFL experience: Rookie
College: Maryland
Huskey was selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, with the 100th overall pick.
Last season, Huskey was named a team captain and Maryland’s Defensive Player of the Year; he also earned second-team All-Big Ten Conference honors and was invited to the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl.
Huskey is a versatile defender, playing all over the defensive backfield, including lining up at free safety and in the box during his career. He logged 11 interceptions over three seasons with 10 pass deflections, showcasing impressive ball production, per PFF.
Huskey has said he is embracing the high expectations surrounding him, and is playing with “a chip on my shoulder.” He will presumably be fighting Caleb Ransaw for a third safety slot, as Eric Murray and Antonio Johnson are likely to be the starters.
However, defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile has frequently run a lot of three-safety looks, which Ransaw or Huskey can nab. As of now, Ransaw is projected to be the third safety, but with a strong training camp performance, he could challenge Ransaw for that spot.
During offseason programs, Liam Coen detailed how Huskey’s versatility and size could be of value to the Jaguars’ defense. As a rookie, Huskey’s greatest impact could potentially come on special teams.
