Of course, sometimes announcers get caught in “hot mic” moments. That’s when broadcasters are picked up on their mics saying something when they didn’t think they were on air. Coming out of a break during Saturday’s game between the UNC Tar Heels and the No. 25 Pitt Panthers, ESPN’s Tom Hart got caught with a hilarious jab towards Tar Heel quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. coming out of a commercial break. UNC won 21-17, but Edwards didn’t exactly play his best game. He threw two interceptions in the second half, but did have two touchdowns. It sounded as if he didn’t realize he was on the call, as he then started discussing UNC’s Xavier Lewis with the graphic that was on screen. Edwards gave UNC a 21-17 lead on a 75-yard touchdown pass to his receiver Shamar Easter. The Tar Heels defense played well in the fourth quarter, forcing Pitt to punt or turn the ball over on downs in each of its last two possessions.
