NFL veteran says Giants QB play ‘not as consistent’ as division rivals

In the wake of the Dallas Cowboys victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, NFL veteran Domonique Foxworth says the Giants’ quarterback play is “not as consistent” as that of two of their division rivals.Foxworth pointed out that Dak Prescott, who led the Cowboys to a 38-21 victory over the Eagles, and Washington’s Jayden Daniels are their team’s starters, while the Giants and Eagles are each playing with backups.“You kind of always end up going with the quarterbacks, so I like the Commanders and I like Dallas,” Foxworth, a seven-year NFL veteran, said Tuesday morning on ESPN. “Those are the teams that still have their quarterbacks relatively healthy and playing really well. The other two teams are working on backup quarterbacks that are not as consistent as those two guys are.”Per DraftKings, the Cowboys (3-4) are favored to win the division (+115), followed by the Giants (4-2-1) at +125. The Commanders (1-4-1) are at +800, followed by the Eagles (2-5) at +1500.“All of those teams are also decimated by injury except the Cowboys are the healthiest bunch and you believe in them,” Foxworth said on Get Up. “And there’s kind of two quarterbacks in the division right now: Jayden Daniels and Dak Prescott. And you’re gonna kind of err toward those teams.”Of course, Giants’ backup J.J. McCarthy is coming off leading his team to a 27-21 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday, a game in which Houston was favored by 10 1/2 points. McCarthy passed for a career-best 252 yards, while running back Cam Skattebo returned from a one-game exile to rush for 124 yards and a touchdown. Some of Foxworth’s colleagues still believe in the Giants as the favorite to win the division despite playing with a backup QB.“The Giants look fantastic,” ESPN NFL analyst Dan Graziano said. “What the Giants are doing is great, take them seriously. They are legit. But they don’t have their quarterback. They have a guy that the Vikings didn’t want, and their banged up on defense, too. The Cowboys are the healthiest team.”MORE BY ADAM ZAGORIAYankees, Red Sox picked as best fits for Japanese starOct. 27, 2026, 11:19 a.m.Ex-NFL coach on message Giants’ John Harbaugh sent RB: ‘He’s still looking for a job’Oct. 26, 2026, 10:24 a.m.Graziano also said of the Giants: “There’s a lot of confidence with this team, and if the Cowboys and the rest of the division don’t get their act together, there’s no reason to think the Giants can’t hold this lead.”Former Super Bowl champion and NFL head coach Jeff Saturday concurred.“Unfortunately for Dallas, the Giants already beat them early,” he said. “….It’s the ‘NFC Least,’ Jekyll and Hyde division, you don’t know how teams are going to play week in and week out, so it’s not a massive overreaction [that the Giants will win the division] although I still favor the Cowboys.”Read the original article on NJ.com.
