Announced by the program, Alabama Crimson Tide catcher John Lemm has signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as an undrafted free agent.Lemm was among the Alabama players not selected in this past weekend’s MLB draft. The Crimson Tide had four players drafted in all, headlined by first round pick Justin Lebron.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementA former transfer from Southern Illinois, Lemm spent only one season in Tuscaloosa, starting 55-of-58 games as Alabama’s primary catcher this past spring. As a senior, Lemm slashed .253/.389/.464 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI, contributing significantly for an Alabama team that reached the College World Series.Lemm will now begin his professional career in the minor leagues of the Cardinals’ organization.
