Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY SportsThe Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback room has been decimated by injuries over the past few days. Now, the team is bringing in some reinforcements. The Ravens are signing quarterback Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster off the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. He could be one of Baltimore’s options against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.Ravens’ Quarterback InjuriesLamar Jackson suffered a right thumb injury on his first throw of Sunday’s 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He’s set to undergo surgery and is headed to injured reserve, and head coach Jesse Minter said the injury could “potentially” end his season.Backup Tyler Huntley then went down with a toe injury in the second quarter, forcing undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano into his NFL debut. Fagnano went 10-of-21 for 91 yards with an interception. Fagnano is now dealing with an ankle injury of his own and was limited at Monday’s walkthrough, though Minter said he expects him “to have a chance to play on Thursday.”The Ravens also signed Austin Reed to their practice squad on Monday. Baltimore, which dropped to 4-4 with the loss, has reportedly shown interest in trading for a veteran quarterback as well.Kedon Slovis Joins the RavensOn Tuesday, the Ravens added another option at the position, signing Slovis off the Green Bay Packers practice squad.“A new QB in Baltimore: The Ravens are signing Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster off the Packers’ practice squad, sources tell @ringer @netflixsports. The options for Thursday night against Jacksonville now include Joe Fagnano, Austin Reed and Slovis,” wrote Tom Pelissero.Slovis, 25, played college football at USC, Pitt, and BYU before making his NFL debut with the Arizona Cardinals last season. He appeared in two games and attempted just two passes. Ironically, his debut came against the Jaguars, when he replaced Jacoby Brissett after Brissett took a big hit from linebacker Devin Lloyd. He also has a connection to Baltimore’s coaching staff. Ravens quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork was Slovis’ position coach in Arizona last season.“Ravens QB coach Israel Woolfork was with Kedon Slovis in Arizona. Now, they’re back together in Baltimore,” Pelissero added.Needless to say, it’s been a chaotic week for the Ravens at quarterback, and it’s only Tuesday. The post Baltimore Ravens sign veteran quarterback after Lamar Jackson injury appeared first on The Comeback: Today’s Top Sports Stories & Reactions.
