Besiktas start Lukaku talks with Napoli, but offer half €10m asking price

Reports are growing that Romelu Lukaku is a genuine target for Vincenzo Italiano’s Besiktas, though the Turkish club is prepared to offer only about half of Napoli’s asking price. Under new Napoli coach Max Allegri, the striker may no longer have a place in the squad at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, especially after he reportedly ended his relationship with Napoli’s directors and staff last season. His decision to return to Belgium for treatment ahead of the World Cup drew the club’s ire, and with only one year remaining on his contract, a departure appears likely.
According to Fanatik, Besiktas initially requested the latest Napoli and Belgium fitness reports on Lukaku before deciding to move forward with negotiations. It is claimed that talks have begun with both Napoli and the player’s representatives, with Lukaku himself reportedly open to making the move.
A significant hurdle could be Napoli’s asking price. Napoli are hoping to fetch around €10 million for the sale, while Besiktas are aiming for closer to €5 million. The 33-year-old, who spent most of last season injured, nevertheless contributed 15 goals and 11 assists in 45 competitive appearances for Napoli.
In Seattle, Washington, on July 6, 2026, Lukaku celebrated with Belgium after scoring in the World Cup 2026 Round of 16, a moment captured in the stadium photos from the match against the United States. This image, taken by David Ramos for Getty Images, underscored the forward’s continued impact on the international stage even as club-level uncertainties loom.
As negotiations continue, Besiktas appears determined to pursue Lukaku’s signature, while Napoli weighs its financial expectations in a potential sale. The coming weeks will determine whether a move to the Turkish club becomes a reality for the veteran forward, who remains an appealing option for teams seeking an experienced scorer with a proven track record in top European competition.
