A lot of it is due to the injuries the Blue Jays have faced on both sides of the baseball, but there’s also something to be said about some of their top players simply not playing as well as we were expecting them to. One of those guys, unfortunately, is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Guerrero, undoubtedly still one of the better players in Major League Baseball, just hasn’t swung it at the level that anybody was expecting him to.His lack of power production has led to some problems in the Blue Jays’ lineup, but instead of ignoring that problem and the fact that his team is far from the postseason at the moment, or at least not one of the favorites to make it, he’s buying into the idea that he has to stay positive for his organization.“My mindset is always positive. I’m going out there and trying to do the best I can to help the team win, every day,” Guerrero said, per MLB.com. “If I’m not doing it with my bat, I’m doing it with my glove. I try to do something, all the time, to be better for my team. When you have that in your mind, something good can happen.”If the Blue Jays are eventually going to figure things out, Guerrero is going to be the reason why. Outside of the injuries, which aren’t really controllable, the big-time slugger will have to figure some things out at the plate.
