The hardest-throwing starting pitcher ever is 0.3 mph from becoming the hardest throwing pitcher ever.
That would be Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski, who once again set a record for the fastest pitch ever recorded by a starter on Friday with a 105.5 mph heater against Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong. It’s also the third-fastest pitch overall on record.

Crow-Armstrong fouled it off to keep the count 0-2, but struck out on a cutter three pitches later.
That was one of 12 four-seam fastballs thrown by Misiorowski in the first inning. None of them were slower than 102 mph.
The only pitches harder than 105.5 measured by Statcast in history: Aroldis Chapman at 105.8 mph in 2010 and Aroldis Chapman at 105.7 mph in 2016, via MLB.com’s Sarah Langs. Given that Misirowski was topping out at 103.6 mph just a month ago and has been ticking up since, it sure seems possible he could surpass that record.
