But Tuesday’s session between the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints in Oxnard ended up sharpening tempers. They traded far more punches than passes during the joint practice, with reports counting at least six separate fights and some estimates running into double digits. The brawl included helmets being ripped off and thrown and a body slam by Saints receiver and WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner’s son Brock Rechsteiner, who suplexed Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson on the turf.Cowboys linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku got ejected for throwing a punch, his second ejection of training camp. The fighting escalated until Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer and Saints head coach Kellen Moore considered ending the practice early, though the teams eventually calmed down and finished the session. When reporters asked him to evaluate the practice, he said, “Right now, I’m in charge of fight club.” The movie being referenced is the 1999 classic Fight Club, starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. In the film, characters form an underground, bare-knuckle fighting organization. To keep it secret, Brad Pitt’s character makes a famous rule: “You do not talk about Fight Club.” After Schottenheimer’s comment, Yahoo Sports could not help but hilariously mock the Cowboys coach for breaking that famous first rule just by talking about it.Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer already broke the first rule 😅 pic.twitter.com/Xj3dgYjdCe— Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports) August 19, 2026However, the first-year head coach did not try to hide the chaos or blame everything on New Orleans, either. “I don’t think they were the only ones stirring up the s—,” he admitted. “I think we might’ve been stirring it up as well.”He made it clear he wants his team to play tough, but without the extra penalties. Still, he called the practice sloppy and felt they missed a real chance to improve. With the regular season approaching, discipline matters more than temper. Especially, Ezeiruaku’s repeat ejections will force Schottenheimer to reconsider how he enforces team discipline.More NFL news:Dak Prescott caught in heated exchange as Cowboys-Saints practice brawl eruptsTexans land emergency QB to back up C.J.
