Finebaum mocked Kelly’s comments, suggesting the former Notre Dame coach has struggled to get things right since leaving the sidelines.Appearing on The Matt Barrie Show, Finebaum pointed out that it had been a year since Kelly was fired by LSU before delivering a pointed assessment of his recent career.“It was on this day a year ago that Brian Kelly was fired. (James) Franklin had already been fired. By the way, I want to congratulate Brian Kelly for calling out Steve Sarkisian this week. He picked a good week to show what a big-time Sirius XM radio analyst he is. Brian Kelly cannot do anything right, other than now I’m sure he’s trying to find one of these off-brand jobs to land,” Finebaum said.Kelly’s criticism came during an appearance with Danny Kanell on SiriusXM, where he discussed Manning’s inconsistent performances and Texas’ offensive approach. He argued that the responsibility for the quarterback’s struggles should fall partly on Sarkisian.“I think it’s on the play caller. I think the play caller takes a lot of the responsibility. Look, he’s your quarterback. They’re not going back. I mean, they’re not going to bench him unless there’s just a total meltdown.” Kelly said.Kelly also praised Sarkisian’s coaching, but suggested that the Longhorns still need to improve their game.“Coach Sarkisian is an outstanding play caller. He understands the game. He’s proven, seasoned, but sometimes there has to be that sit-down conversation,” he said. “If we can run the ball with more effectiveness, if you add those two things to the Texas offense, they’re going to win the rest of their football games.”Paul Finebaum Had Also Questioned Steve Sarkisian Before Texas’ WinFinebaum’s criticism of Kelly seems ironic, as the ESPN analyst had previously made similar remarks about Sarkisian and Manning. Before the Texas vs. Ole Miss match, Finebaum questioned whether Manning should remain the starting quarterback and placed the blame for the Longhorns’ offensive struggles on Sarkisian.“I’m beginning to wonder if Arch Manning should even start. I know he will, and he’s capable of leading them to a win, but I blame Sarkisian for every aspect of this,” Finebaum said.Texas secured a 34-27 victory over Ole Miss, building a 24-3 lead before the Rebels fought back to tie the game early in the fourth quarter. Manning’s one-yard touchdown run restored Texas’ lead, while Jelani McDonald’s interception sealed the win in the final seconds.Sarkisian’s team will now face Mississippi State on Saturday. Also Read: “Pull The Kid Into Office”: Charles Johnson Advises Deion Sanders on How to Make Amends With JuJu Lewis Amid Colorado’s Losing Run“Doesn’t Look Good”: Urban
