​Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Charlie Becker is eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft. Here’s what you need to know. Becker stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 207 pounds, entering his junior year with a pro comparison to Alec Pierce. He consistently demonstrates hilariously good ball tracking and body control at the catch point, paired with strong hands and a lengthy wingspan that yield a supreme catch radius for throws away from his frame. In 2025 he converted 13 of 17 contested catch opportunities, many of them above the rim or on back-shoulder throws downfield. He also led the Hoosiers in special teams tackles and has built a reputation for effective kick coverage. A willing and enthusiastic blocker, Becker attacks safeties with solid grip strength and active feet to slide and maintain framing.
Becker brings an explosive vertical element to his game, creating stress on the perimeter. Through his first two college seasons he logged just 45 targets, so the sample size entering 2027 is still relatively small. He is primarily a vertical-plane target, so additional route diversification beyond fades, posts, go routes, corners, and outs will be important to watch as he progresses. Becker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and played high school football at Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee. There he was a two-sport athlete and state champion in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. As a football prospect, he was a three-star recruit (247Sports) in the 2024 class and held offers from App State, Iowa, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss in addition to Indiana. His father, Dave Becker, played for Ohio State and later pursued a professional baseball career within the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
Upon arriving at Indiana in 2024, Becker spent the season mostly on special teams. It wasn’t until midway through his sophomore year, during the Hoosiers’ run to the National Championship, that he emerged as a prominent target in the passing game. He has developed a reputation for big plays in clutch moments, with a standout memory being a 4th-and-5 conversion in the fourth quarter of the National Championship that kept the game within reach. Becker is viewed as a field-stretching receiver who could become an impact starter at the NFL level, capable of changing games in several ways.
To reach those goals, Becker will need to add more volume to his résumé to verify the flashes of 2025. He possesses raw speed and burst to outrun defenders downfield and has demonstrated the ability to get behind coverage more than once during the 2025 season, though he sometimes needed to adjust to finish receptions. His tendency to be “open when covered” is a notable trait, and his targets thus far have skewed toward contested catches, a pattern that can be appealing for evaluators who value big-play potential but may require continued refinement of route variety and consistency.
