July 13 (UPI) — Conor McGregor will undergo surgery for the leg injury he sustained at UFC 329 and plans to return to the octagon, he announced Monday on Instagram.McGregor appeared to injure his right knee at the start of his welterweight matchup with Max Holloway on Saturday in Las Vegas. Final fight of the contract. Praise God!”Holloway gained first-round TKO for Saturday’s bout, which lasted just 69 seconds. UFC president Dana White told reporters at a post-match news conference that he thought McGregor tore his right ACL.McGregor (22-7-0), who started his UFC career with a 19-2 record, lost four of his five most recent fights, including his last three. Sunday’s matchup was McGregor’s first bout since 2021.Holloway now has a 28-9-0 record.McGregor previously said he was thinking of future foes after the Holloway bout. He did not rule out a rematch with Holloway when asked Sunday about the future.
