Colorado coach Deion Sanders does not seem too concerned that Texas Tech fans found his team’s opening script of plays ahead of the Red Raiders’ 29-7 victory in Week 5.Tech fans who were staying at Colorado’s team hotel near Boulder the Friday night before the game said they had found a booklet of Colorado’s offensive plays that included the team’s play script for its first drive of the night. That opening drive produced the Buffaloes’ only touchdown of the game. And after the game, fans pieced together that the play sheet appeared to be legitimate from the game footage. When asked about the discovery at his weekly news conference Tuesday — Colorado was off in Week 6 and Sanders did not meet with the media a week ago — Sanders first took issue with the use of the term “playbook” to describe what was found, saying that “I don’t even think we have a whole playbook.”He then went on to not express much concern about the whole thing.”It happens sometimes,” Sanders said. “That happens sometimes. I’ve seen that, heard of that on the pro level as well as the collegiate level, but I think we scored on the first drive, so I guess it didn’t work.”There’s no indication that anyone in Texas Tech’s football program was given the play script before the game. And, as Sanders went on to say, a coach would automatically be leery of the authenticity of such a document.”I think if someone had left that, they left it,” Sanders said. “Mistake. What are we going to do about it? It’s over. Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go. Like, we could have the opposing team’s first team’s 10 or 15 plays, we’ve still got to stop it. When you get something like that, do you really trust it? As a coach? Like, we get something, ‘Oh somebody left a playbook — so was that a dummy script? Or was that real? “Like, that’s what you’re thinking as a coach. As an opposing coach, if somebody called us and said ‘Hey, Utah left the play script of the first 20 plays,’ I wouldn’t believe that. Like ain’t no way. And then you gotta match it up and then they score on the first drive? Don’t make sense to me. I don’t major on the minors, man. I try to major on the majors.”Isaac Wilson made his first start of the season in the loss to Texas Tech and is set to get the start against Utah in Week 7 as Colorado looks to avoid dropping to 2-4. Wilson, who threw three interceptions against the Red Raiders — including a pick-6 that was caught in his own end zone — will be starting against his former team after transferring to Colorado ahead of the 2026 season.
