Dodgers’ Justin Wrobleski Proves He Should’ve Been an All-Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers slipped to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Colorado Rockies, but the loss wasn’t on Justin Wrobleski. At 25 years old, Wrobleski failed to notch his fourth consecutive win, a setback that kept his personal streak at an impressive 10-2 and nudged his ERA from 2.80 to 2.69 after a nine-inning, one-earned-run performance over seven frames. He allowed six hits and two walks, yet he managed to fan nine Rockies hitters, and he did so on just 94 pitches.
Missing the 2026 All-Star game has been a painful itch for Wrobleski, yet his outing reinforced his status as a key component of a Dodgers squad intent on pursuing a historic three-peat. “You want to be an All-Star,” Wrobleski told The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya. “It’s something that, regardless of the year, whenever, it’s always a big deal. It’s something I wanted to do. It’s frustrating to not get that nod.” He added, “For the most part, in the categories that I’m trying to be good at I’ve done a pretty good job.”
Ardaya noted one area of focus is first-pitch strikes. Against the Rockies, Wrobleski faced 28 hitters and threw first-pitch strikes to 23 of them. By the end of the outing, he had 15 called strikes, 13 swinging strikes, and 15 in-play strikes. Of the 21 outs he recorded, nine were strikeouts, four were ground balls, and six were fly balls.
Several marquee pitchers have already been ruled out of the All-Star game due to their schedules, but the same cannot be said for Wrobleski. After wrapping up the first half of 2026 with his latest start, he was a touch frustrated to see three other pitchers ahead of him on the potential replacement list. While there could still be more changes, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts remains a firm believer that Wrobleski deserves consideration for the All-Star team. The Dodgers already boast multiple representatives in this year’s game, but, as Roberts emphasized, that is secondary to Wrobleski’s own numbers and the recognition they merit. “It would be validation for him,” Roberts said. Wrobleski replied, “Hopefully I can gain the respect of players and everybody else and maybe be in there next year.”
The Illinois native has now logged exactly seven innings in each of his last three starts. He has reached eight-plus innings on occasion, and he has not pitched fewer than four innings in any of his 16 appearances this season, 15 of which have been starts. His durability and consistent workload have become a hallmark as he continues to anchor a rotation that’s determined to push this franchise toward more historic achievements.
