Throughout the 2026 season, the Minford Falcons’ girls soccer program has displayed a balanced offensive attack that has made stopping its offense a highly difficult challenge. And as a result, several players, including Sadie Tieman, Marley Rhodes, and Jasmine Dixon, among many others, have shined.A highly proficient multi-sport talent herself, Tuesday evening’s match between Minford and Lynchburg-Clay saw the Lady Falcons turn to the always dependable and reliable Makenna Enz.And the junior delivered. After a corner kick from Tieman on the near side of the net appeared to deflect off of Enz, a Lynchburg-Clay defender, the protecting goalkeeper in Lynchburg-Clay’s Kendra Doss and a second Lady Mustang defender who attempted to clear the ball, the ball bounced back to Enz who fired home a shot that found the back of the net as the Lady Falcons advanced to the OHSAA Division V District Championship in a heartstopping 90-minute thriller on Tuesday evening at Hillsboro High School.Minford, who posted 11 shots with six coming on goal in the contest, got a big effort from senior goalkeeper Addison Lemon who stopped four shots during the 90-minute affair. The Lady Falcon defense also got big-time efforts from Kyndal Raynard and Lauren Matiz, who each played all 90 minutes in the one-goal triumph.Offensively, Minford again displayed a well-balanced offense with six different players taking the 11 shots in the contest and nobody posting more than two apiece for the Lady Falcons.Enz, Rhodes, Tieman, Dixon and Minford freshman Delaney Lemon each had two shots for Minford while Lady Falcon freshman Presley Brooks posted the additional shot. The first five players mentioned each put a shot on frame with both of Lemon’s shots resulting in Lynchburg-Clay saves.”We had to win ugly tonight against a very well-coached Lynchburg-Clay team who was able to get healthy just in time for the tournament,” Minford head coach Shane Tieman said. “They always step it up a notch in the tournament and we knew it would be a battle. We were able to get a few corner kicks in overtime and were able to capitalize on the opportunity. Sadie put a great ball into the box and Makenna Enz has a nose for the ball. I’m really glad that we came out on the winning side of a golden goal. It’s such a tough way to go out. Congrats to Lynchburg-Clay on such a great battle.”Minford (13-3-1) will play Fayetteville-Perry (11-4-2) in a OHSAA Division V District Championship Match on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro. The winner of the contest between the Lady Falcons and the Lady Rockets faces either Eastern Brown or Leesburg Fairfield on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Chillicothe’s Herrnstein Field at 7 p.m. in what would be a Division V, Region 18 Semifinal.
