Entering the MLB All-Star break, the Dodgers are 61-36, which is the best record in the majors. Despite all the pressure of being the team to beat and MLB’s modern-day dynasty team, Los Angeles hasn’t shown any signs of slipping. One of the biggest reasons for that is Shohei Ohtani, a revolutionary player who excels as both a hitter and a pitcher.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOhtani has already done it all when it comes to winning MVP awards, winning four of those by the age of 31. However, he’s still aiming for his first Cy Young Award, something that’s a possibility this season. The six-time All-Star has raced out to an 8-2 record with a scorching 1.79 ERA through the first half of the season. He also has 95 strikeouts in 85.2 innings pitched. While Ohtani is one of the favorites, he is not considered the favorite at the moment due to the stacked field in the National League. I mean, he’s the best player ever.”Betts has a point, considering Sanchez has pitched 127.1 innings with 144 strikeouts, and Misiorowski has pitched 111 innings with 167 strikeouts.Ohtani continues to double up in his role as a batter with a .293 batting average, 22 home runs, 58 RBI, and a .953 OPS. He ranks in the top 25 in all four of those batting categories. If Ohtani solely focused on pitching, he might be a safe bet to win the Cy Young Award. Betts admits that he’s a different type of player when he’s focused on pitching compared to his approach as a batter.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“It’s just what I think I see,” said Betts of Ohtani. “I don’t know what goes through his mind when he takes the mound. He’s super locked in. I’m assuming he’s trying to win a Cy Young, but he probably tries to do that every year. It’s just when he takes the mound, he’s just a dog. He always
