The Pittsburgh Steelers are counting down to the 2026 NFL season, with kickoff just 74 days away when they host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13. In honor of the countdown, Steelers Wire looks back at the history of the No. 74 jersey and which players wore it best. The current Steelers No. 74 is Spencer Anderson, a seventh-round pick in 2023 who has appeared in 42 games with 11 starts over three seasons. In 2026, Anderson is expected to contend for the starting right guard role. The five most recent players to wear No. 74 are Spencer Anderson (2023-2026), Chaz Green (2021), Chris Hubbard (2014-2017), Willie Colon (2006-2012), and Chris Sullivan (2000). The best No. 74 in Steelers history is Hall of Fame-sized tackle Frank Varrichione, who wore the number in the late 1950s. After being selected sixth overall in the 1955 draft, Varrichione played six seasons for Pittsburgh (1955-1960) and five with the Los Angeles Rams (1961-1965), earning five Pro Bowl selections and later earning a spot on the Steelers Legends Team.
