Braylen Bedford, a 2028 four-star safety, has quickly emerged as a highly sought-after recruit on the college football recruiting circuit. As an uncommitted rising junior, he has begun drawing significant attention now that schools can initiate direct contact with him. Among the programs that have shown sustained interest, five stand out for their ongoing outreach to Bedford. Florida State, along with programs in the SEC and the Big Ten, has been actively pursuing the Tennessee native, according to 247Sports.
Bedford sits among the top targets in the 2028 class at the defensive back position. Since rising juniors were permitted to hear from schools starting June 15, several programs—Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oregon, Florida State, and Kentucky—have maintained consistent contact with him. In the 247Sports composite rankings, Bedford is listed as the nation’s No. 66 overall recruit and the No. 6 safety, while also holding the No. 2 ranking within the state of Tennessee.
Before transferring to Brentwood Academy, Bedford attended Vardaman High School in Mississippi. There, he made an impact on defense with 69 tackles, one interception, one pass breakup, and three forced fumbles. He also contributed on offense, recording 689 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, along with 335 passing yards and three passing touchdowns to go with two interceptions on defense.
Bedford’s profile makes him a clear candidate for attention as Florida State and other programs shape their early 2028 classes. The Seminoles are likely looking to capitalize on Bedford’s versatility and potential as they begin assembling a recruiting class that could make a long-term impact. As the recruiting cycle progresses, Bedford’s status will be closely watched by coaches hoping to land a dynamic playmaker who can contribute on both sides of the ball.
