Cardinal Mooney rebounded against Berkeley Prep after being routed by Saint Thomas Aquinas in the preseason. Despite the bus breaking down on the way to Naples, Riverview still earned the road win. And Lakewood Ranch defeated rival Parrish Community.And since individual performances can get lost in the final scores, The Herald-Tribune is honoring the top performances each week. Here are the 10 standouts from Week 1: Logan Carillo, RiverviewCarillo finished 11-for-13, throwing for 352 yards and four touchdowns in Riverview’s 42-21 win over Naples. Davin Davidson, Cardinal MooneyDavidson finished 20-of-25, passing for over 180 yards and three touchdowns in Mooney’s 39-21 win over Berkeley Prep. Connail Jackson, Cardinal MooneyJackson, a three-star senior running back, had three touchdowns. Two were 63-yard scores in Mooney’s 39-21 win over Berkeley Prep. Dorien Jones, VeniceIn Venice’s 42-40 road win against Rabun Gap, Jones had five touchdowns, converting the 2-point try that led to the Indians’ victory. He accounted for all of Venice’s scores except one. The three-star running back is committed to FIU. Ka’marion Jones, Lakewood RanchJones opened scoring with a 99-yard kick return in Lakewood Ranch’s 27-14 win over Parrish Community. He added a 38-yard reception in the first quarter. Cedric King, Cardinal MooneyKing had three touchdowns, including an 85-yard score to open the third quarter. He had over 100 yards on six catches. Jayden Rivers, SarasotaRivers caught six passes for two touchdowns, one for six yards and the other for 13 in Sarasota’s 35-18 win over Bayshore. Mason Summer, SoutheastSummer finished 16-of-22 for 142 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 96 yards and two touchdowns rushing 10 times in Southeast’s 34-28 loss to Wesley Chapel. Jacoby Thomas, Parrish CommunityThomas finished with 167 yards and two touchdowns behind 19 carries in Parrish’s 27-14 loss to Lakewood Ranch. Hudson West, SarasotaWest finished 15-of-17 for 200 yards and three touchdowns in Sarasota’s 35-18 win over Bayshore.
