Gazzetta: Spalletti surprised as Juventus stall Kolo Muani and Martinez talks

Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti had hoped the club would bring in a new centre-forward and a new goalkeeper before the start of pre-season, but negotiations for Randal Kolo Muani and Emiliano Martinez are not progressing as quickly as anticipated. The club has yet to make headway in discussions with PSG for Muani and with Aston Villa for Martinez. Gazzetta dello Sport notes that the timeframe to close these transfers has surprised Spalletti, who expected to welcome fresh attacking and goalkeeping options by the training camp beginning July 13.
Juventus appear to be at an impasse with both clubs, making it likely that Jeff Ekhator will be the sole new signing to join the Bianconeri for the start of pre-season training next week. The situation is underscored by a recent photo from Milan, where Spalletti was seen ahead of Juve’s Serie A clash with AC Milan on April 26, 2026, illustrating the ongoing months-long buildup and speculation around the team’s transfer activity.
According to Gazzetta, Juventus are reluctant to meet Martinez’s price tag, with the striker currently on Argentina duty at the World Cup. They reportedly do not want to exceed €6m to €7m for a transfer involving Martinez. Meanwhile, PSG have increased their demands for Muani, reportedly seeking around €50m, while Juventus are said to be unwilling to spend more than €40m on a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.
Muani has long been Spalletti’s preferred option to lead Juventus’ attack, but it remains uncertain whether the Italian manager will be able to work with the French forward in the near future. The stalemate leaves Juventus facing a slower-than-expected transfer window, with the club weighing Loan-to-Buy terms and evaluating alternatives should Muani or Martinez remain out of reach before the season begins.
