Former Florida Atlantic running back Devin “Motor” Singletary has been inducted into the Conference USA Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026. A product of American Heritage-Delray High School, Singletary becomes FAU’s first student-athlete to be honored by the CUSA Hall of Fame. The move marks a historic milestone for the Owls, with former FAU softball coach Joan Joyce having entered the Hall of Fame in 2022.
Singletary, who is entering his eighth NFL season with the New York Giants, left an indelible mark during his three-year collegiate stint at FAU from 2016 to 2018. He emerged as one of the program’s most influential players and a standout figure in Conference USA history, guiding FAU to a conference championship in 2017. That championship season saw him bolt onto the national stage, establishing himself as a cornerstone of Owls football and a defining talent within the conference.
During his breakout 2017 campaign, Singletary became FAU’s first AP All-American, while also earning Conference USA MVP honors. He racked up 33 rushing touchdowns that year, the third-highest total in a single NCAA season at the time, and accumulated 2,118 all-purpose yards. His performance helped FAU achieve a landmark year that solidified the program’s rising status and cemented Singletary’s reputation as one of the premier playmakers in college football.
Singletary concluded his college career with numerous school records that underscored his enduring impact. He finished with FAU’s all-time marks for rushing yards (4,280) and rushing touchdowns (66), and he led the program with 67 total touchdowns. His 67 rushing attempts for score stands as the top total among Conference USA players. His career rushing touchdowns rank seventh all-time in NCAA history, and he is the most prolific running back in the conference among players who appeared for only three seasons.
In the NFL, Singletary has built a durable professional résumé. Drafted in the third round by the Buffalo Bills in 2019, he spent four seasons in Buffalo before joining the Houston Texans in 2023. He enjoyed a standout year with Houston, rushing for 898 yards and four touchdowns while also catching 30 passes for 193 yards. He has been with the New York Giants for the past two seasons, continuing to contribute as a steady, productive back. Across seven NFL seasons, Singletary has accumulated 4,923 rushing yards and 33 total touchdowns, highlighting a successful transition from college stardom to the professional level.
FAU fans celebrating Singletary’s Hall of Fame induction can reflect on a storied era in Owls football. His impact extended beyond the stat sheet, as his relentless work ethic, big-game performances, and leadership on the field helped elevate FAU’s profile within Conference USA and on the national stage. The 2017 season, in particular, is remembered for its explosive offense and the pivotal role Singletary played in driving the team to Conference USA glory.
From his early days at American Heritage-Delray to the pinnacle of Conference USA recognition, Singletary’s journey embodies the Owls’ growth and the broader narrative of FAU football’s ascent during the late 2010s. He remains a landmark figure for FAU, and his Hall of Fame honor in 2026 serves as a fitting tribute to a player whose impact resonated across the college football landscape and who continues to contribute at the highest levels of the sport.
Career highlights and statistical milestones at a glance reveal the breadth of Singletary’s dominance: he finished with FAU’s all-time leading rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, solidifying his status as a record-setting back.
