​The New York Giants (3-1-1) didn’t come away with a win in Week 5, but quarterback Jameis Winston gave them every opportunity to do so.Winston earns Player of the Game honors after leading New York’s second-half comeback against the Washington Commanders (1-3-1), helping the Giants erase a 14-point deficit to secure a 27-27 tie at Northwest Stadium.The veteran quarterback finished with 326 passing yards and connected with Isaiah Likely and Malik Nabers for crucial touchdowns as New York rallied from a 27-13 deficit in the second half.Winston’s stat line: 33-of-54 passing (61.1%), 326 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 96.7 passer rating.Things weren’t pretty early for Winston and the Giants’ offense.New York managed just three points in the first half, struggling to move the football consistently against Washington’s aggressive defensive front. Winston also lost a fumble, contributing to an offense that couldn’t find its rhythm before halftime.However, the veteran quarterback responded when the Giants needed him most.Winston found Likely for a touchdown late in the third quarter, cutting Washington’s lead to 19-13 and giving New York some much-needed momentum.The Commanders extended their advantage to 27-13 in the fourth quarter, but Winston refused to let the game slip away.He connected with Likely for another touchdown to bring the Giants within seven before leading the drive that ultimately tied the game. Winston found Nabers over the middle for a touchdown with 1:43 remaining, and Dominic Zvada’s extra point made it 27-27.The Giants struggled to establish the running game and left points on the field with missed field goals. Despite those setbacks, Winston helped lead an offense that scored 24 points after halftime.New York ultimately couldn’t secure the victory in overtime, but Winston’s second-half performance was instrumental in salvaging a tie.
