​Giants running back Cam Skattebo is embracing a brand-new look as he heads into his second season in the NFL. Ahead of the 2026-2027 campaign, Skattebo unveiled a longer hairstyle that contrasts with his rookie year, and fans quickly weighed in on social media. A viral set of photos circulating this week shows the Giants star sporting extended hair, prompting a mix of reactions from fans. One commenter on X quipped, “Is this not the kid from Matilda?” while another compared his appearance to skateboarder Bam Margera. Others offered styling ideas, with one fan suggesting, “Shave the sides and braid it like a Viking.”
Skattebo, known for his outgoing personality, has yet to publicly explain his decision to grow out his hair for this season, but fans can likely expect his explanation in due time. His rookie year, unfortunately, was cut short by a severe injury. During Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season, Skattebo suffered a right ankle dislocation, a tibia fracture, and a ruptured deltoid ligament in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles after his ankle got caught while attempting a pass. He required emergency surgery, which prematurely ended his debut season. Since then, he has been focused on rehabilitation as he prepares to begin his second year in Giants blue.
Before the injury, Skattebo had shown promise, amassing 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns in his rookie campaign. In May, he told the Associated Press that he was ready for Week 1 and that the injury would not alter his approach or running style. “It ain’t gonna change who I am,” he said on The Insiders. “I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I’ve still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I’m not going to let this little ankle thing bother me. I’m going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos. It’s going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out.” As he continues his rehabilitation, fans are eager to see him back on the field in his Giants uniform, unafraid to mix in a few stylistic bold choices along the way.
