Hansi Flick second only to Luis Enrique in reaching 100 wins as Barcelona managerBarcelona secured an emphatic 6-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves at the Spotify Camp Nou to return to winning ways.It was the perfect response from Hansi Flick’s men after consecutive defeats to PSG and Real Madrid. The victory was particularly significant for Flick, who has now reached a personal milestone of 100 wins as Barcelona manager. The German achieved this feat in 131 games, becoming the second-fastest coach in the club’s history to get there.Flick joins elite companyOnly Luis Enrique has reached the century mark faster than Flick, with the PSG manager requiring just 128 matches.Flick fell short of the record by just three games, underlining the incredible job he is doing at the Camp Nou.The circumstances under which he arrived in Catalonia were markedly different from those of Luis Enrique, making his feat even more spectacular. The German’s record gives him a win rate of around 76.3%, meaning Barcelona have won more than three-quarters of their matches under Flick.Flick has also reached this milestone while promoting an aggressive, attack-minded philosophy and placing trust in the club’s young players.Barcelona have reasons to remain confident in FlickThe milestone comes at an interesting moment in Flick’s tenure at Barcelona. The manager came under some scrutiny for the defensive organisation in games against PSG and Madrid. However, two games do not define Hansi Flick’s work at the club, and reaching 100 victories so quickly shows the excellent job he has done here. His high defensive line and intense pressing may have seen Barcelona lose some big games, but those same principles have also made them such an entertaining team to watch.More pertinently for Flick, he took over Barça after one of the darkest periods in the club’s history and at a time when the squad left a lot to be desired.Hansi Flick has done an incredible job at Real Madrid.
