The Seahawks simply do not look like a team capable of going back-to-back after their Super Bowl win earlier in the season.It was another jittery performance for Sam Darnold in the pocket as his fourth quarter interception sealed the defeat for the Seahawks. However, there was a moment earlier in the game involving Darnold that left fans furious.No call from the referees on what seemed like an incredibly late hit on Darnold – who had given himself up by sliding – left Seahawks fans stunned by the lack of protection provided to their quarterback by the officials.Seattle Seahawks demand NFL ‘investigation’ after no call on Sam DarnoldThere is no getting around just how poorly Darnold has played this season after returning from his injury. Turnovers have been a major issue for Seattle and Darnold has thrown at least one touchdown in every game he has completed this season.However, fans clearly want to see their quarterback given a lot more protection by the referees than what was on display on Monday night.‘I want a full investigation,’ one fan replied to the footage of Darnold being clattered by linebacker Devin Bush.‘I don’t see how that hit wasn’t penalised. According to NFL rules forcible contact with helmet or shoulders are considered targeting,’ said another.Darnold’s offense has not looked right all season – aside from Jaxon Smith-Njigba – as the Seahawks have formed into a one-man band under Brian Fleury. A total lack of a running game has also massively hindered the Seahawks.‘Can refs get fined?’ replied another Seahawks fan.‘Being a Bears fan, that was a rough one to see,’ a Bears fan even replied.The officials have been a big talking point this season in the NFL and decisions like this certainly are not helping the public’s perception of them.‘Insane. 5 minutes in and we already have horrible officiating,’ said one fan.‘I should’ve known after this wasn’t called.
