Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter expressed optimism about Nate Wiggins’ injury Tuesday, but the team is still waiting for testing to determine its severity. Wiggins was carted off the practice field after going down while covering rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane during a one-on-one drill. The starting cornerback appeared to injure his left knee or leg and could not put weight on it while entering the team facility with help from trainers.Minter did not offer a diagnosis following practice.“I don’t have a ton of information yet,” Minter said, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “I think there’s optimism.”The first-year head coach added that Wiggins was still undergoing tests and acknowledged that he did not know whether the injury could become a long-term concern. He also said there is no timetable for the cornerback’s return.“We’ll get it looked at, see where it’s at,” Minter said, via the Ravens.“We’ll get it looked at, see where it’s at.” Head Coach Jesse Minter on Nate Wiggins’ status pic.twitter.com/HTvlS91Lez— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) August 11, 2026Wiggins, Baltimore’s first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, entered training camp projected to start opposite Marlon Humphrey. His speed and coverage ability make him one of the most important pieces of a secondary that also features Chidobe Awuzie, Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks. If Wiggins misses time, T.J. Tampa and Amani Oruwariye could receive additional snaps on the outside. Bilhal Kone and Baltimore’s other reserve cornerbacks could also move into larger practice roles. For now, Baltimore has avoided offering any conclusions publicly Tuesday afternoon. Minter’s optimism provides some relief, but the organization must wait for the testing before it knows whether Wiggins avoided a significant injury. This article originally appeared on Ravens Wire: Jesse Minter offers optimism after Nate Wiggins’ injury
