Even though the Memphis Grizzlies landed three players in the 2026 NBA Draft, only one has seen Summer League action so far: No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer. That is about to change. According to the official NBA Mexico page on X, No. 21 overall pick Karim López will make his Summer League debut with the Grizzlies on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks.López has been sidelined due to a mild left hamstring strain that he suffered before the draft. Although that injury cost him some chances to get reps in the games the Grizzlies have already played, the team maintained that he would debut before the end of Summer League, and now, that appears to be coming to fruition.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Mexican-born rookie will eventually have a chance to establish himself as a core piece for Memphis moving forward, but his focus right now is likely on having a strong Summer League debut. Since he’s coming off an injury, it’s unclear if he will play a big role on Thursday, but any action from the 19-year-old will be a welcome sight for fans.In the 2025-26 season in the NBL, López averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for New Zealand, per Basketball Reference. He knocked down 50.2 percent of his shots from the field and 32.6 percent of his shots from deep. The forward has good size and athleticism, and his versatility could go a long way for him. Still, the 19-year-old may need some time to get his footing at the NBA level, and Summer League reps are a good place to start. The other player the Grizzlies picked up in the 2026 NBA Draft was BYU product Richie Saunders at No. 32 overall. Saunders unfortunately suffered a torn ACL during the 2025-26 season in college, which has sidelined him since. He will not see any Summer League action for Memphis.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBut Boozer, the organization’s top pick, has gotten plenty of reps in this summer. While he hasn’t been very efficient in his last two games, the overall returns have been very promising, with the rookie averaging 17.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas while shooting 50.8 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from deep.López will now get to the party, and he’s arriving just in time to potentially help the Grizzlies sneak into a Summer League playoff spot in Las Vegas.
