The Golden State Warriors have finalized a two-year deal with free agent center Kristaps Porzingis, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The contract is worth $40 million, with a player option attached to the second year. This outcome benefits Golden State, as Porzingis had the option to explore free agency for a potentially larger deal. In 15 games after the Jonathan Kuminga trade last season, Porzingis averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.6 steals. Following the team’s drafting of Yaxel Lendeborg and the re-signings of Al Horford and Porzingis, the Warriors have quickly filled their frontcourt needs. Looking ahead, a new contract for Draymond Green seems likely, with the former Michigan State standout having declined his $27.7 million player option on Monday.
